Push For Winter Bike Trail Access At Rock Cut State Park-
Connector System From Cortland To Peace Road Pathway. This Would Link The Town Of Cortland To The Dekalb Sycamore Area. Currently – Cyclists And Pedestrians Must Take One Of Two Busy 2 Lane Roads.
No Petition at this time due to unknown solution along green line on Barber Greene. Barber Greene and Somonauk Rd are current commuter routes to the Dekalb Sycamore area. Both are extremely dangerous roads with 55 mph posted speed limit and gravel shoulder. The proposed routes are in blue and green – The blue line could easily acquire a painted formal bike lane. The high traffic green line along Barber Greene would need some sort of paved apron shoulder (maybe consider next time road work is done) with marked bike lane, or a paved or crushed limestone pathway which would cross 2 private properties.
Connector Path Along Route 72 Connecting Stillman Valley To Byron.
No petition at this time- This would take a strong community effort to get off the ground. Blue line could follow old railroad and one bridged water crossing for most of the way into Nordic Woods where it could then take a marked bike lane into Byron. Cyclists and hikers could then benefit from an incredible route (purple line) that would take you through Byron and along the Rock River into Oregon.
